DECUSSATION-Distant sources are contralateral to target neurons. Certain pathways, that ascend or descend along the axis of the NS, have axonal crossing to contralateral neuronal populations. These pathways cross to correct for the lens.

- Descending Pathways- neurons of origin
- Cortical spinal
- Cortical bulbar (except trochlear nuc)
- Rubrospinal tract
- Tectospinal tract (visual & auditory)
- Pontocerebellar path
- Vestibulospinal tract
- Reticulospinal tracts (pontine & medullary nuclei)
- Optic chiasm
- Ascending Pathways
- Dorsal column pathway (DRG axons cross in medulla)
- Pain/Light touch pathway (Small DRG axons crossing the ventral com.)
- Spino-olivary path
- Olivocerebellar path
- Ventral spinal cerebellar paths (VSCT)
