• Longitudinal limits of the motor neurons

• Motor columns for vertebral column extend the length of the cord.
• Motor brachial and lumbosacral enlargements have added nuclear groups for upper and lower extremities.
• C5-C8 and L4-S3 segments enlarge laterally in the ventral horn
• Visceral motor neurons are in the lateral horn and extends from T1-L2
• The neurons are “sympathetic preganglionic” . These axons synapse with paravertebral postganglionic neurons that target visceral organs and somatic smooth muscles and glands.
